Unemployment Claims Drop To Four-Year Low

Claims for jobless benefits dropped last week in the U.S., matching the lowest level in four years, more evidence the labor market is improving. Applications for unemployment insurance payments fell by 14,000 to 351,000 in the week ended March 10, Labor Department figures showed today….

“As more people have jobs, confidence is picking up. This is consistent with pretty solid gains in consumer spending,” said Stephen Stanley, chief economist at Pierpont Securities LLC in Stamford, Connecticut, who was ranked the most-accurate forecaster of personal spending over the two years through February, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Democrats will see more jobs and less unemployment as a good sign for the economy.

Republicans will twist reality and explain why this is, in their mind, bad news.
