think-progress:

Check this out: “Progressive” is viewed more positively than “conservative” and every other political label in America.

IMO: Socialism is what we have but people can not accept, Libertarian is a political unicorn with no real existence, Capitalism does not exist since we bail out entire industries, Liberal is how we experience the world but somehow has become an insult, Conservative is only for abortion which is just code for controlling women, and Progressive is the reality of how we compete in the shared global world.
We are more alike than we want to admit. Fear and insecurity is used to divide us. We all want less taxes, a useful government, freedom of choice, rule of law, a place to buy food, a roof over our head. Tags like pro-life and pro-troops are meaningless. We all are.
The main difference is some people want to move forward with progress, and some people want to stay the same and/or go backward repeating the same known mistakes. - Douglas/LiberalsAreCool
