Anonymous asked: my boyfriend is conservative & I am definitely liberal & we often get in arguments about politics. He pretty much believes everything on fox news & it is extremely annoying. What are some points I can make to him?

Is your boyfriend over 65? I kid.

Most conservatives can’t justify their beliefs in the real world. They are clinging to a narrative of fear. That something they “deserve”, will be taken away from them. They use religion to smite the little guy. They use a lot of control over people [i.e., gay, young, women], then say they are about freedom. They talk of “Founding Fathers”, then they want to have Constitutional Amendments. Consistency is not a strength.

I would just offer him the world and ask how his views, outside of the neighborhood he resides, are practical? Does he travel much? Exposure to other ideas is usually a good start.

Also, does he enjoy just being annoying? Is the political stuff just a way to get attention? Trying to be “manly” with Bill O’ and Hannity?

BTW, watching Fox’s predetermined narrative on cable is not news, it is, by definition, entertainment.
