Movie is very biased, obviously. I assume your friends are Republicans?

Ask them how many times Reagan raised taxes? They won’t know. They never do. He did it 4 times. Makes the cartoon of Reagan schooling Obama a complete joke. Ask them about how much debt Reagan created, too. Or for that matter, Bush 41 and Bush 43. Why were their deficits good? What made that change? A Democrat? Seems their principles don’t exist. That “rage” is so fake and they need to know it.

As for paying for what we have created, isn’t that what taxes do? How else do they expect to pay for things. By spending less? That will never happen. Can you imagine Boomers in their 70s saying “spend less on me”.

So in essense, they are saying we have to pay for what we have created, but we will not pay for it by taxes, but by spending less.

Bush created debt by writing IOUs to America. He cut taxes, started 2 wars, gave out tax rebate checks and created a massive Plan D entitlement program. All unpaid for. He did not decrease spending, he increased it. He cut taxes and increased spending. So Bush borrowed the money, with interest. Mainly from the Chinese. We all know money borrowed with interest is more expensive. Republicans don’t understand this.

Obama is at least trying to pay for what he is spending. Letting Bush tax cuts expire, as per the law they were written in, is responsible.

That responsibility is being mocked in the movie. The same people who say we have to eventually have to pay for these debts, are the same people who don’t want to actually pay for it. It’s like they are saying, “who is this Obama guy telling me I have to pay for things?” They want the stale white guy, or better yet, a half-term Governor, to lie to their faces about how the Government works.

They also think debt and deficits started on Jan 21, 2009. That Democrats did it all. This collective moral and fiscal amnesia is the calling card of the modern Conservative and Tea Bagger, to which your friend’s Mom is a member.

I guess you could shut them up and ask them for one example of a Republican who cut spending and reduced debt/deficits, while keeping taxes the same. That person is a unicorn. They don’t exist.

Good luck trying to inform them, though. They seem beyond hope. Ignorance is bliss for the GOP these days. Good thing is, facts are on your side.
